The citadel of Blaye

Visit of the Citadel of Blaye and its underground tunnels making this visit really out of the ordinary. You get to know the whole history behind the citadel and it’s famous architect Vauban (even though technically speaking it wasn’t him) .

40km from Bordeaux and situated on the Gironde estuary.

Wonderful on a sunny day with great views across the valleys and the estuary towards the Medoc for photos. Also Possible to cross from or to the Medoc by car ferry. Campsite in the citadel as owned by the town. Picnic areas.

I took a guided visit of the citadel plus the undergrounds.
Visit in French (possibility in English during the summer season)
Guide: Celine who was excellent and answered all questions.

Price from 6€ depending on visit.
