The Grand Theatre opened in 1780 after the original theatre in Bordeaux burnt down. One of the Duc of Richelieu’s favourite architects Victor Louis built this masterpiece on the foundations of a roman temple.
The visit (tickets brought at the tourist office) starts outside where the guide explains the architect and his work. You then visit the house (main rooms) as you don’t visit backstage. The visit ends in the Auditorium where you can admire the beautiful colours and step back in time. Worth the visit.
