The Cité du Vin is one of the best and probably the most recent attraction in Bordeaux. It’s very modern with headsets to go around without a guide unless you want to know about the architecture which is a guided visit.
You need patience as when it’s busy you must wait for the explanations which switch on per person. It’s not just about Bordeaux wines but wines in general from all around the world. It’s very educational using all your senses. The icing on the cake is the wine tasting on the last floor. You have to take a lift from the ground floor to access it. You get a tasting per person and a wonderful view of the city.
The gift shop has everything you need from fridge-magnets to cork-screws to books. There is also a wine library to sit and read in.
The price of tickets are around 20€ depending on options. Giving you access to the main part of the museum but also the temporary exhibition and a wine tasting upstairs.
You can access the Cité du Vin by tram: Tram B at the stop “Cité du Vin”
Or by bus: Bus 7,32,45
There is also parking close by.
My note 9/10 but it’s because I love learning about wine and spent 6 hours there. I’m not sure it’s adapted for people that aren’t passionate about wine and I think it must not be as good when crowded.
