In the centre of town opposite the tourist office you will find one of the most well-known wine bars of Bordeaux. It’s located on the ground floor of the Bordeaux Wine Council headquarters in a beautiful and rather unusually shaped 18th century building.
The inside is as original as the outside with stunning stained glass windows, low tables and armchairs. During the summer there is a small terrace outside which gives a view of the grand theatre and main square.
The wine list changes frequently and always offers a wine list of 30 wines (reds, dry and sweet whites, clarets, sparkling and rosés). The prices are very affordable as being served by glass only. You can often taste exceptional wines for only a few euros that way.
If you’re a little hungry you can order a cold meat or cheese platter and if you have a sweet tooth you can order a selection of chocolates. Children and non-wine drinkers can drink mineral water or grape juice.
The staff are extremely helpful, welcoming and know what they’re talking about.
You can’t visit Bordeaux without going here.
Open from Monday to Saturday 11am to 10pm (check times on bank holidays)
You can’t reserve a table so sometimes there is a queue to wait to be seated.
